Growth

I guess one might say she's grown a bit over these two years, eh? This morning's pediatrician appointment put her at 32 lbs., 10 oz. and 34.5 inches. She can still rear-face! But, only for a few more ounces, so at some point in the next few weeks, we will be turning her carseat around. Sigh. These pictures were taken when Natalie was a few days old, on her first birthday, and today, her second birthday.

  • Happy Birthday, Natalie!

If she's close enough to the weight limit that a big meal or heavy clothes would put her over, she should be turned now. I know Sanna was weighed at 2 years with her clothes on but no shoes, so that might give you a little leeway.

  • Not only is she growing, she's growing even cuter! Happy birthday, Natalie, and congratulations, Jen and Cait, on another successful year of mothering.

  • From little peanut to big girl... :)

It does sound like you may be closer to days than weeks on the window before rear-facing becomes a thing of the past.

I think she's going to love it, and that so are her mommies.

  • Yeah, I should have written days. That was what was in my head, but not what came out. I actually thought I'd get flamed for wanting to turn her before she hit the limit.

She was weighed in only her underpants, but we are out of heavy clothes weather here, so I don't think she's quite over when fully dressed yet. Regardless, she will be turned. Soon. Remember that Jen is insane about carseat safety, so you can pretty much always assume that we're NOT being stupid about this stuff.

My real point in saying that she could rearface was that we actually made it to her second birthday before having to turn, which I really didn't think would happen. I was ready to turn her a while ago, thinking she would hit the limit a lot sooner. Just publicly admitting that I was wrong (I thought the other adult member of the household would appreciate that).

  • Crazy how big she is! The new Marathons/Boulevards are 35 pound rearfacing. Apparently they've always been tested that way, but Britax isn't raising the limit retroactively. Which means, of course, you do need to turn her, but at least you don't need to worry that you got too close. Plus you have a new car, so you don't need to muck about with getting tether anchors installed.

  • Wow, I remember leaving a comment when Natalie turned one and it just seemed not that long ago.

What a strong, happy and loved child you are raising. She is going to love her different view from the car when she is forward facing.
