The Non-Bio Mom's Lament

Overheard as Cait talked to her mom on the phone today:

"We're going to a brunch today and trying to find clothes that Jen looks cute in. Nobody gave ME boxes and boxes of clothes. It's so much more fun to help her get dressed."

My favorite part of this conversation? That Cait's mom - one of the early lesbian non-bio mom pioneers - could truly commisserate. "Yeah, nobody gave me clothes when Catherine was pregnant either."

  • Those are awesome words to hear (or read). I've heard about people giving siblings a small present during a kids birthday (so they won't feel left out) maybe non-pregnant parents to be would also appreciate that? ;o)

  • LOL...poor Cait. So she comes from a two-mom household, then? That makes it nice for you two, to have a "role model," and for Harpo to have that commonality with Cait.

  • Awww... I never knew that about Cait. How nice that she can share that with someone who does understand :)

  • I'd be glad to send clothes - because mine don't fit me and it seems like they never will again - LOL! Glad she has someone with compassion and understanding - how very cool!

  • Cait, you should know that I would give my left arm to be back in my own clothes. Wearing someone else's clothes was fun for a few weeks, and now I'm sick and tired of it.
