Look Ma, No Hands!
We are really lucky to have a bunch of friends with toddlers and preschoolers who are MORE than happy to hand off old maternity clothes and baby stuff to us. Last night we went and sorted through a bunch of baby clothes and picked out some to put in storage. Since we don't know if it's a boy or a girl, we're mostly picking unisex stuff (meaning yellow, green, and blue, because if you exclude blue there's virtually nothing. Besides 50% of OUR clothing is blue, so why not the kid, too?) but occasionally we get struck by the cuteness of some girly thing and take it, too. However, my favorite find from last night is this:
Yup, a baby straightjacket. Including the fasten-behind-the-back feature AND handrestraints coverings. Love it! Of course we took it. And knowing even 50% of our kid's genes... it will probably come in handy! :)

How perfect is that?! High ascetic fashion! =) Besides adding blue to the new neutrals, I've also added pink. I figure if grown men can wear it, so can babies, eh?

We think it would be a bit mean to dress a boy with two mommies in a lot of pink. I'm not saying no pink ever (and if he* wants it, he can have all the pink his heart desires... but we make the choices for a while) but we're gonna go easy on the pink, frilly, flowered dresses if we have a boy.
*if he's a he, that is

But do you have a Miracle Blanket, for the ultimate in baby straightjacketing? All kidding aside, I used them with Middle Child and now use them with Little Child, and they are WONDERFUL (if you can get past how they look--the natural cotton-colored one is the worst).

The only issue you may have with the straitjacket... you kind of tie it in the back, right? That means baby is laying on the knot... Just something to keep in mind when shopping! That aside, I have found little hand coverings to be indespensable as my DD liked to scratch off her face and neck in her spare time till she was 3 months old.

When Charlie came home... the very first outfit he wore... the first night he slept at home... was a pink nightgown with little flowers. It was very cute on him. It was... fitting, somehow. Regardless of how much non pink stuff we owned.

I think it's got a Jedi kind of vibe to it. Add a light sabre thing and you're set for dress ups! Of course add a hockey mask thing and the kid's dressed as Hannibal the Cannibal too, so it's versatile which is nice ;-)
