When Will I *Ever* Learn?

I thought I'd learned my lesson during the last Summer Olympics:

Do NOT look at Internet news feeds before you watch the Olympic coverage unless you want the surprises ruined.

  • I learned not to call my Mom at work for the very same reason.

  • My problem is that my homepage on my home computer is Google News. I guess I should change it for the duration of the Olympics....

  • Oh, I know, too true. But sometimes I can't help myself.

And sometimes I just want to know so I can plan my TV watching effectively...if I KNOW who wins, I can flip back and forth to 'Dancing With the Stars' and not worry so much about missing the good stuff on NBC.

  • The Minneapolis newspaper is my homepage, and yesterday I was accidentally spoiled just because I made the mistake of opening my browser! I changed my homepage and plan to leave it changed until the Olympics ends. Of course, last night's figure skating was the biggie for me, so it's kind of pointless.

Hopefully I'll remember this at the next summer Olympics, since I actually like more than one summer event.

  • Yeah, Rebecca, that's EXACTLY what happened to me.

  • Omigosh, it happened to me too last night! I was so angry that I was about to cancel my AOL account! There I was just minding my own business, checking my e-mail after dinner. I go to the AOL homepage to sign in and what's waiting for me--a huge picture of Miss Sasha falling!!! GRRRRRRRRR! I will definitely stay away next time.
